The American Correctional Association calls for 70 sq ft to be the minimum size of a prison cell. So these "housing units" are nothing more than prison cells without a sink and toilet.
... the fact the homeless are not exactly roughing it - with tent-laden processions complete with furniture and other amenities now a common sight in the Mile High City.

They won’t like giving up their ‘furniture & other amenities’ for a pod with a bed & desk. Communal facilities are going to be dangerous. My guess is the micro communities will be a failure - the homeless will just move when an encampment is closed down & the authorities will be chasing them around town.
When traveling, all I need is a place to sleep and take a shower. I can even do without the “free” breakfast of powdered eggs and microwaved bacon.
Copy that! I always wondered why folks needed fancy hotel rooms —after all, when you close your eyes, they all look the same!
In total, the single community will cost the city a total of $7million - not including the other amenities set to be offered. There will also be no sobriety requirement for prospective tenants, the mayor's office said Monday....

I don’t know who is less able to understand the reality of the situation. The virtue signaling, developer bribed politicians, or the alcoholic, drugged out mentally ill homeless? Seems like a tie.
Who will keep the communal showers and kitchens clean and the homes habitable? A GS-3 maid service?
I wonder if they will have matching micro schools.

I imagine that theses pods include a bucket for times when the inhabitants are too wasted to make it to the bathroom. Can you imagine the smell?
