Massive attacks from Hamas stretch across all of southern Israel, IDF forces are overwhelmed but trying to get hold of the situation. 1,000 Israelis are now dead, and the Israeli government is mobilizing 100,000 IDF soldiers for an offensive to push Hamas back into Gaza. IDF forces have engaged Hamas near Ashkelon and Sderot. Ukrainian forces inflicted heavy casualties on Russian armor formations near Robotyne, and are also continuing the offensive south of Bakhmut.

Dear Ukrainians!
Today I spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. I extended my condolences over the numerous casualties caused by the terrorist attack. The Prime Minister informed me about the current situation and the actions of the Israeli defense and security forces.
There is all the necessary cooperation between the Ukrainian Embassy and the Israeli police to find out the details about Ukrainians who found themselves in the areas of hostilities and shelling. Unfortunately, the deaths of two Ukrainian citizens have been confirmed. My condolences to the families and friends.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, all our diplomats who are in charge of this region, together with the intelligence service, are working around the clock to help all our people who need help. The Embassy has already received more than a hundred appeals from our citizens. The whereabouts of five of our people in southern Israel have been established.
I once again address all Ukrainian citizens in Israel: please be careful and follow the instructions of the local security forces.
It is very important that the whole world – the whole of it – does not stand aside from what has happened now and responds in the most principled way possible.
Many people were shocked by the audacity of the terrorist attack. The audacity and thorough preparation. If terrorists can afford it, it means they are a threat not just to one country. And next week we will work together with our partners to ensure the unity of the world in the fight against terror. Various international events have already been planned. As always, the Ukrainian position will be in favor of unity and joint action.
Terror has opened too many fronts against humanity. The war against Ukraine. The war in the Middle East. Terrible destabilization in Africa. Constant attempts to provoke a crisis in the world food market.
Being strong in such conditions means standing up to terror. It is not enough to be a great country. It is not enough to be a rich country. It is not enough to have ambitions. To be strong is to help protect people and lives from all forms of terror. And that is exactly what it is. To help. To help.
And today, this evening, I want to thank our people who save lives, who do everything to make terror lose...

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, against the backdrop of its illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014, changed the security landscape in Europe and acted as a catalyst for Finland’s accession to NATO. After 30 years of close partnership with NATO, Finland joined the Alliance as a new member in April 2023. With its geographic proximity to Russia, Finland shares a 1,300-km border with Russia and has a history of facing Russian aggression.
Russia’s unprovoked and brutal full-scale war on Ukraine got Finland to rethink its defence strategy, and abandon its policy of military non-alignment. While Finland now benefits from the protection of NATO membership and the collective defence clause (“one for all, all for one”) under Article 5 of NATO’s founding treaty (also called the Washington Treaty), Finland’s membership also strengthens NATO’s collective deterrence and defense and the security of the Euro-Atlantic area.
Despite having a small population of 5.5 million, Finland has an impressive wartime strength of 280,000 military personnel, and that is due to its comprehensive conscription service. The country also counts on strong artillery capabilities, a fleet of modern fighter jets, powerful mine hunting capabilities at sea and much more. Finland is also situated in a potentially vulnerable area, including both the High North and the Baltic Sea, regions of high strategic importance. Day 592 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.
During the day of October 8, there were 33 combat engagements. The enemy launched 6x air strikes and 20 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have killed and wounded civilians.
The operational situation in east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.
VOLYN and POLISSYA AXIS: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.
SIVERSHCHYNA and SLOBOZHANSHCHYNA AXIS: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues to shell Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched an air strike in the vicinity of the settlement of Hrabovske (Sumy oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at around 10 settlements, including Senkivka (Chernihiv oblast), Kozacha Lopan, Vovchansk, and Okhrimivka (Kharkiv oblast).
KUPYANSK AXIS: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 3 enemy attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka (Kharki oblast). The adversary fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Kamyanka, Dvorichna, Synkivka, and Kyslivka (Kharkiv oblast).
LYMAN AXIS: the Ukrainian defense forces repelled 4 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Makiyivka (Luhansk oblast). The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Spirne, and Rozdolivka (Donetsk oblast).
BAKHMUT AXIS: Ukrainian troops successfully repelled all enemy attacks north of Bohdanivka, Klishchiyivka, and Andriyivka during the day of October 8. More than 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Klishchiyivka, Andriyivka, and Pivnichne (Donetsk oblast).
AVDIYIVVKA AXIS: the Ukrainian defense forces repelled all adversary attacks in the vicinity of Avdiyivka (Donetsk oblast The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Keramik, Avdiyivka, Opytne, and Sjeverne (Donetsk oblast).
MARYINKA AXIS: during the day of October 8, the Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled 13 occupants’ attacks in the vicinity of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). The adversary launched an air strike in the vicinity of Kostyantynivka (Donetsk oblast). About 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Pobjeda, and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast), were under artillery fire of the invaders.
SHAKHTARSKE AXIS: about 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
ZAPORIZHZHIA AXIS: the occupiers launched air strikes in the vicinities of settlements of Novodanylivka, Robotyne, and Orikhiv (Zaporizhzhia oblast). More than 25 settlements, including Poltavka, Hulyaipole, Orikhiv, Robotyne, Novoandriyivka, Mala Tokmachka, and Mali Shcherbaky (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under artillery and mortar fire.
KHERSON axis: the russian occupiers launched an air strike near Beryslav. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at Kherson and Stanislav (Kherson oblast).
At the same time, the Ukrainian defense forces continue their offensive operation on Melitopol axis and offensive (assault) operations on Bakhmut axis, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, exhausting the enemy all along the front line.
During the day of October 8, Ukrainian Air Force launched 3 air strikes on the concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment of the invaders.
The Ukrainian Missile troops hit 3 artillery systems and 2 ammunition depots of the adversary.
