I suppose that your mindless posting of the New York Times propaganda of that era does serve a purpose. Southerners fighting at the time were called traitors and rebels. Our founding fathers would be called that if they had lost, also.
Today, the government calls people disagreeing with them domestic terrorists, deplorables, in need of re-education camps, etc. The term “rebels” can’t be far off.
