I was a teen in the 80s the first time I ever saw Boy George in a video. I wrote him off as a mentally ill fruit and hadn't paid much, if any attention to him since. Then a few years back, he drew the invective of the left for going off the reservation and criticizing the LGBTQ push for pronouns of choice saying that was going too far.
Now, comments critical of islamists being islamists. You know we are living in seriously deranged times when Boy George stands out as a voice of reason.

I have been an avid reader of biographies for the reason you post. Advice from successful people is good. But, the usual template of successful people is that they once lost everything only to build back anew. That is what makes them successful - their journey from the depths of poverty, relationships, life, and then a triumphant return to the pinnacle. Being at the “bottom” makes them all more human. Discussing how they climbed out of the pit makes them heroes and role models.

Yes, knowing how someone failed and then succeeded is important. It tells people that getting back up and trying again is important to success. Most successful people have had failures, and lots of them, but I do not think being at the bottom is “more human”. Not at all. It does not take suffering to be human. Humility and compassions does, but to be on rock bottom is not a requirement to be human.
I think Tucker’s seen both.
