A woman who was on her way to a memorial for an Oakland baker who was slain was herself violently attacked in a robbery by two teen girls in Berkeley, according to police and a social media post.
Police said two teens — described as 13 and 15 years old — pulled the woman to the ground before hitting, kicking and stomping her head as she walked near Sacramento and Derby streets at around 5:10 p.m. Sunday, police said.
The girls then stole the victim’s bag off her shoulder and her cell phone out of her hand, police said, before fleeing the area in a black four-door sedan driven by a man who authorities said was in his 20s.
Officers found the woman with “numerous injuries” including an eye which had swollen shut and lacerations to her face and body, authorities said.
A friend of the victim who asked not to be named said in a now-deleted Twitter post that the victim was on her way to a memorial service for Jen Angel in Oakland on Sunday when the attack happened.
Angel was killed during a February robbery in Oakland in which she was dragged by a getaway car. During her life, Angel advocated for restorative justice — an approach to justice that focuses on rehabilitating offenders through reconciliation with victims.

I read that, and assumed it meant to restore the world to the conditions that prevailed when the criminals in question did not exist.
