I don't live that far from the Quebec border and I visit Canada fairly often...as recently as last month. A few years back I was driving up I-29 toward the North Dakota/Manitoba border.When I crossed into Canada the border guards sent me for a "complete" inspection.

For 90 minutes they pulled my car apart,demanded the password to my laptop and asked me a million questions about guns.

They found nothing so they let me in...and I've entered Canada many times since with no problems.

I have a pretty common name so all I can think of is that a guy with my same name was on some kind of firearms watch list.Either that or they were just bored that day (there was only me and a pickup truck with Alaska plates there at the time).
