Climate is not weather.

Average temps, etc are averages, not what we expect to see.

Weather records have been exceeded, yearly, in my brief (70 + year) lifetime.

As an example (out of hundreds) the 1960 Winter Olympics were an amazing success. Lots of snow, TV coverage, quite a visual for young me at the time.

Then, either the next winter or the following, there was no snow in squaw valley. A winter drought.

Had that been the case today, Dems would use that as a fake excuse for going after your gas stoves and barbecues.
