Large-scale energy storage is a dumb idea be it battery or hydrogen. Stuff like solar/wind/battery/hydrogen works well only in some situations, and only when you set out to achieve realistic goals (not "net zero", assuming that's being 100% off fossil fuels, but maybe making a building somewhat energy self reliant). And even then only when you scale it down to the residential level (not the grid level) and remove the bureaucrats.

When the only people financing it and managing it are the people who benefit from it, only then do you have a chance of it being successful in achieving realistic goals. That's because the only people in the mix would be the ones with a vested interest in making sure it works effectively. But if you have just one politician or bureaucrat in the mix expect it to go to pot.

I can’t wait to see how they build all everything out knowing full well that petroleum products are going to be the cornerstone of the building materials used. Also, how huge vehicles, carrying thousands of pounds of materials will operate without high torque combustion engines.
