Which is the exact reason a social contract agreeing to a formal policing and judicial system was set up in civilized societies. When that social contract fails due to one side refusing to live up to that agreement, there is a return to “neighborhood justice”.
The left really, really should be careful here. Should they insist on staying on this path of allowing criminals to go free while making the victims the “scorned” ones, we will return to fathers and neighborhood groups doing what is necessary to keep their children and communities safe. Especially when it is the “authorities” that are allowing, encouraging, and excusing the crimes. That solution to the current situation will not be pretty. And for one side of the equation it will be very, very painful
