--- "Take out" in what sense of the word?"

An interesting question. Sounds sort of cowboy, doesn't it? Or maybe a little like "change of management?"

One need place Petraeus in some sort of context.

General David H. Petraeus (US Army, Retired), Partner, KKR and Chairman, KKR Global Institute

Okay. So what is KKR of which he is a partner, then?

A big investment firm. "As of June 30, 2023, KKR has a team of over 2,500 employees, consultants, and advisors, including more than 720 investment professionals working across 20 industries in offices around the world." KKR.

And "KKR & Co. Inc., also known as Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., is an American global investment company that manages multiple alternative asset classes, including private equity, energy, infrastructure, real estate, credit, and, through its strategic partners, hedge funds. As of December 31, 2022, the firm had completed more than 690 private equity investments in portfolio companies with approximately $700 billion of total enterprise value." Wiki.

In addition to supporting the KKR investment process, KGI serves as a platform for thought leadership, publishing analyses on a range of market-relevant developments and subjects, including Henry McVey’s Global Insights and other publications.

Money. Money. War. Money. War. Money....

Because one should remember:

"...a 2001 moratorium on the sale of land to foreigners had always represented an obstacle to unrestrained privatisation. As post-Maidan governments turned again to the IMF for financing, aid was conditioned on a series of land reforms that would finally allow foreign corporations to acquire vast tracts of the country's farmland. In 2020, Zelenskyy gave in to the IMF's demands and finally repealed the moratorium. 'Agribusiness interests and oligarchs will be the primary beneficiaries of such reform,' said Olena Borodina of the Ukrainian Rural Development Network. 'This will only further marginalise smallholder farmers and risks severing them from their most valuable resource>/B>.' But the World Bank could barely contain its excitement, gushing: 'This is, without exaggeration, a historic event.' Even though the new law isn't set to come into force until next year, US and Western European agrobusinesses have already bought up millions of hectares of Ukraine's farmland — with 10 private companies reportedly controlling most of it."
