Kosovo declared independence in 2008 but Serbia - along with Belgrade’s key allies China and Russia - does not recognise it.

Even if that's true, we shouldn't have anything to do with the Balkans, other than to say that we are encouraging peace.

Historically, yes. And historical boundaries should matter. No, they must matter! But the Kosovo demographics say otherwise.

And that’s the interesting thing about the US, the UN, and the EU. Those worthies are all for self-determination. Let the people decide!

But they never apply that grand idea to their own countries. The South tries to secede from the Union. General Sherman burns everything in sight.

Ireland tries to secede from the UK. Well, okay. Let Ireland be Irish. But the UK decides to keep almost 20% of the island anyway.

Etc.

I suspect that Serbia has figured out that the West is SPENT, hardware-wise, so now is the time to reclaim their renegade territory.
