A "Broken China" Update.

If you want on or off the ping list send me a FReepMail.

Today's update is more a laundry list of things going on in China. It will not be long on analysis.

Item One:
The latest food flap in the PRC involves artificial salted egg yolks in Autumn Festival Moon Cakes.

Item Two:
The logo for the Hanzhou Asian Games bears a striking resemblance to that of a funeral home chain in Zhejaing.

Item Three:
There are reports of multiple Beijing Districts borrowing to pay civil servant salaries. Other districts are either reducing wage rates and/or paying wages on a one month delay. Some provinces are reducing end of year bonuses from 50,000-60,000 Yuan ($8,000-9,600) to 1,000-2,000 Yuan ($160-320). Other provinces have dropped them all together. Some have demanded return of 50% of previously paid performance bonuses for 2021. Money must be repaid before the end of the year. This is not good.

Item Four:
The founder and Chairman of EverGrande, Xu Jiayin, has been arrested but not before transferring the bulk of his wealth overseas through a 'technical divorce'. Over the years he and his 'ex' wife have paid themselves over $8 BILLION in dividends. He also managed to set up a $2.3 billion trust funds for son in the US. Under the terms of the trust his son only has access to interest and dividends so the principal can't be touched by creditors of EverGrande. Xu's grandson can still inherit the trust.

It is widely believed that Xi Jinping has already decided to blame Xu and his family for workers and companies not getting paid back wages and debts.

Item Five:
Evidently Chinese hackers broke into US State Department servers and stole over 60,000 emails from ten accounts. The emails were taken from the UNCLAS inboxes. The accounts were for people generally working on Indo-Pacific diplomatic efforts.

XU’s alma mater is Wuhan University of Science and Technology. Let that sink in.

Yes, those sound like signs of impending economic collapse in China, the crash stage having already been reached and surpassed.

It’s long been expected because of the communism rot at the center of it, but I could not have predicted how it would play out, and certainly not this “Mandate of Heaven” stuff being involved.
