About 15 years ago I was suffering with chronic neck pain, so bad I was losing time from work. Orthopedists could find nothing wrong (after repeated CAT scans and an MRI). Our company's insurance spent enough $$$ over a couple of years buy that chiropractor a new Lambo.

Then I retired and moved to Ohio. That ended my regular lunches at the Chinese restaurant in town. VOILA!! No more neck pain. Turns out I'd become hypersensitive to MSG.

Now I avoid all foods with MSG in them, and I'm fine. But one can of Progresso Italian Wedding Soup will tie me up again. No MSG added, but chicken stock is naturally loaded with it. You'd never guess it, but yogurt and cottage cheese ditto.

That’s interesting.

I’ve had 2 fusions on my neck, the las was 24 years ago. I’ve stayed pretty good through exercise, but now I’m scheduled for another fusion November 8.
This time the problem is C2-4, causing dizziness and vision problems, scary.

It sounds like you may have an issue with tyramine. MSG, fermented and pickled foods and some cheese are a problem. BTW - chicken broth is fine if you make your own. Avoid canned soup - it's loaded with MSG.

Here's a food list for avoiding tyramine
