I was an avid Stern listener from 1989-2004. He was ably-abetted by his senior writer and comedian Jackie Martling. Yes, it was salacious and crude and sophomoric, but it was also very insightful. Stern back then was a leftish libertarian and very much supported the American military and the police. He was also anti-Ted Kennedy and his bits on the Lifeguard of Chappaquiddick remain some of the best biting humor against that POS.

When Jackie left the show in 2001 it started going downhill. In addition, Stern remained spiteful of the FCC under GHW Bush that fined him repeatedly, and he became anti-Dubya around the time of the Iraq war. Stern’s divorce also coincided with him flipping from being an insightful if not crude yet numerous American satirist to becoming a shell of his old self.

Trump is spot-on….Howard loved being relevant. He’s been irrelevant for years. Stern’s recent rants are attempts to get more narcissistic supply.

While Trump just gave Stern what he wanted, he also pinpointed Stern’s fear of being “found out.” Young guys don’t listen to Howie. There’s a new King of All Media:

I stopped listening to stern 25 years ago...

Talking with the girl.. Linda, Rozz... O forget her name. His side kick at the time. Talking about a date she went on the night before. And stern asks her live on the air if she let him do her up the back side!! Now I’ve always been a slight perv on the male to female scale, but this was total classless!! I looked at the radio and just switched the channel!! Never tuned in again...

What's wrong or controversial about that statement? I used to listen to Stern in the '90s (including when Trump was pretty much a regular on the show), and it used to be pretty funny. It stopped being funny and started being self-obsessed and narcissistic around the time Stern departed the airwaves for pay radio. Stern has always been neurotic, but being funny made up for that. Stern decided that pandering to the Left would be an acceptable substitute for being funny and he was wrong. He's boring and so is his show.

I remember the days when Howard Stern completely sucked up to Trump. Go back to some of his early to mid-1990s broadcasts when he was saying how much he loved Donald Trump. He would have killed to get Trump to do 5 minutes on his show. And the Trump appearances were funny. Trump was there back when Stern had strippers and assorted weirdos on. Now Stern does awkward, forced comedy with Hillary Clinton.

The first time I saw Howard Stern in person was around 1990, on the Dave Letterman show.

Stern viciously mocked Burt Reynolds and Loni Anderson, who had recently adopted a white baby, without any waiting period at all.

Apparently, in 1990, white babies required years of waiting, because of high demand.

Non-white babies had no waiting period at all.

I remember being slightly shocked that Stern was allowed to say things like that on TV.

Stern actually had a moderately wide acceptance with the Political Right in 1990 because he definitely attacked the Political Left every week on his radio show.

I think Trump's main point was exactly that - Stern abandoned the Political Right years ago, his ratings fell by 50%, and he started talking about porn and sex all the time, which is not humorous or entertaining to most Americans.
