This becomes an interesting thread, as you speak for another. The original comment -- yes, I know it has been repeated in previous threads -- is an opinion. All in fact are opinions, mine and yours and beyond, sometimes bolstered by citations and often not.
"...why post a comment?" Because in a Free Republic, it is allowed to post a comment. Freely.
If said comment needs to be contested, then post a contest making contest. If said comment is best not responded to, don't respond. That is comment 55's view. Seems rather straight forward.
Specifically on these threads, the observation is apt that -- as posted in this thread -- there continue to be....

“This becomes an interesting thread, as you speak for another.”
I wasn’t speaking for her; I was pointing out to you what she said (which apparently went over your head).
“Because in a Free Republic, it is allowed to post a comment. Freely.”
Yes, that’s true. But don’t you think the comment should be germane to the topic, and add something to the discussion? Posting a comment to the effect the poster has no opinion or doesn’t care one way or the other serves no purpose at all (unless it was simply a way for the poster to call attention to him- or herself).
You mention JR’s comment about differences of opinion. That’s right: The key word being OPINION. The subject poster had no opinion, and said as much; thus, he or she contributed nothing to the discussion. He or she is certainly free to do that; but it is meaningless.
