I can see a thread with 250 posts.

Before I castrated horses I’d palpate the testicles to see if there were a) two of them and b) the scrotum wasn’t filled with taenia, or intestines. I once palpated a scrotum and thought I felt testicles but when I made the incision I realized they were fecal balls from the intestines. I then had to pull the intestines back up through the inguinal canal via a rectal and suture the scrotum back up. It was not a pleasant experience.
“””same with the prostate exam they don’t give you the finger anymore they do a PSA test.”””
That was a great lay-up for a couple of dozen lines but I’m going to ignore it.
“That is an old procedure, they don’t do that anymore, same with the prostate exam they don’t give you the finger anymore they do a PSA test.”
Not true.
A complete physical examination of a man includes
1. Checking for inguinal hernias (index finger inverts the testicular sac so that the physician’s fingertip is in the end of the inguinal canal - he can then feel if there is a hernia during the cough).
2. Palpation of the testes to see is there are any nodules or tenderness
3. Digital prostate examination, to check for asymmetry, tenderness, anal sphincter tone, nodules. Patients can have a malignant prostate nodule with a normal PSA.
4. Inspection of the phallus for deformity eg Peyronie’s Disease, lesions (like the chancre of syphilis), discharge (as is seen in gonorrhea or NGU, and disorders of the foreskin, if foreskin is present - foreskin is retracted to check for yeast infection.
It’s really bad when your accountant does it. Just sayin...
Why is “turn your head” part of the exam? No real medical reason other than the doctor doesn’t want to be coughed on.
I remember a horrified guy writing to Dear Abby that he developed an erection when the doc did this. Her answer was some bullshit about how the physical body doesn’t differentiate. “Yeah, right” I recall thinking.
“…they do a PSA test.“
Someone on here quite recently said that PSA doesn’t always tell the story and that a “digital” was the surest way.
Do you think some FReeper was being a wiseass?
Why is there another Hillary Clinton thread being posted?
During my post surgery check up, doc did not say turn your head, he just said cough. Inguinal not testicular.
Anyways, good as new with the mesh.
Ohhhh balls....
Two reasons. The first is a “soft touch”, looking for any lumps or growths indicative of cancer. The second, “turn your head to the left and cough” is to check for hernia protruding into the testicles.
Impressive skills.
Used to castrate calves in about 3-4 minutes. Ate alot of calf fries.
Made me LOL
About 30 years ago my employer required that several of us men take a physical. They brought in a female doctor to perform it and of course it included a prostate exam. After the physical she was unfondly known as “Dr. Hook” and we were convinced she used Vise-Grips for the prostate exam.
A friend of mine said he got aroused when a doctor was checking him. Why he told me that I don’t know.
:)
Thanks for sharing.......
