A two-year-old girl who wandered off from her home with her two family dogs has been found fast asleep in a remote woodland three miles away using one pet as 'furry pillow' while the other kept watch over her.
Thea, from the rural village of Faithorn in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, decided to go on an adventure on Wednesday when her mother Brooke had turned her back.
The toddler, along with her two dogs, walked three miles together through the wooded area before she got tired and decided to have a rest.
Back home, her panicked mother was frantically calling Thea and the dog's names before her family and friends joined in the search of their family yard and the surrounding thick woods.
After 15 minutes with no luck, Brooke called troopers from Michigan State Police's Iron Mountain post at 8pm on Wednesday and a manhunt was launched.
Troopers used drones and police dogs in the search while 50 local police and residents from both Michigan and adjacent Wisconsin helped look for Thea in the remote wooded area.
It was at midnight that a resident on an ATV found Thea sleeping about 3 miles from her home while using her smaller dog like a furry pillow while the larger dog kept watch over her, police said.

Sometimes kids are slow to train or are not comfortable going on the potty. My oldest didn’t fully potty train until he was 3. My middle child saw big brother going on the potty and was trained by 19 months. My youngest was two years old.
Bottles? By the time their teeth started coming in, we were moving on to sippy cups.
Writers these days…. They don’t like the word “and”. But together with anong with they just doesn’t sound right. Same with as well as. Both this as well as that. Not good grammar. I wonder if grammarly would catch it, or did grammarly suggest it?
I’m not sure if grammarly suggested that the writer use two year old to describe a toddler of 3. But the article say two.
When I was 2, 1959, my mother was vacuuming a floor and I asked her if I could go get a tractor. She wasn’t really paying attention and said mmm hmmm so I took off down the street in my diaper. Luckily I was on a military base because as I got near the gate a military policeman came in a blue pickup truck and took me to the gate guard shack. He was calling around to find out where this kid came from and I stuck my tongue out at him, so he smacked me upside my face. Probably not hard but I definitely came away with a respect for law enforcement.
This story is very suspicious. A toddler walking three miles? There is more to this story.
My cat finds a bug in the house it’s a curiosity and he plays with it. No urge to attack and kill. Wouldn’t know about mice so far none has gotten into the house. Got two cats one of them bites and shreds paper like a dog lol. They get bored and need play time. Papers on the living room table he pushes them off onto the floor clearing the space to lay down. If I had the time and energy for a dog I wouldnt hesitate to get one, or two. Cats do show affection and I have love for them but the bond is just not the same as the one with man’s best friend.
Rotties, how did I know?
Greatest dogs ever
Mine let us know when she was ready for potty training by pulling her diaper off. I believe she was almost two. The bottle or “baba” was a little harder to break her from. She was very attached to that thing.
So... they didn't get a dog number 3 that could just follow the trail of dogs 1 and 2, along with the toddler?
My kids loved their binkies and blankets.
I had to pry the blankets from them when they were asleep, wash and dry them, and get them back in the bed before morning, otherwise they would drag them around until they were crusty.
Ah...to be young again with boundless energy.
i know. thats a different thing though, i assume Joe had been toilet trained as a kid. now they don’t do it if the kid does not want to.
Girlfriends dad had to go on a trip.
Left his german shepard with his son.
The son gives the dog to some of his friends.
The dad comes home and finds out his dog is gone.
The dad goes over to his son’s friends house wanting the dog.
Finds out the family went swimming and their child started drowning...the dog rescued the child.
Mother starts crying when he asked for the dog back.
Girl friends dad just walks away
