German President Von Hindenburg privately mocked Hitler’s Austrian accent and thought him a rube.
He’s giving original sources on his private life, pre-evil dictator. And it’s not all negative. He took care of his mother when she was dying of the Big C, and the treating doctor was Jewish, and he might have let him out of the country to the US, for trying to save his mother. Or then again, he might have just escaped his wrath for failing to save his mother. That’s all fascinating. Also he wasn’t gay, according to this, and did not kill his niece, which Konrad Heiden also believed (that he didn’t kill her; but he maintained that Himmler probably put a hit out on her), but she might have been carrying his baby.
I love history, and this channel, with its AI and research staff, sometimes brings it to life and surprises me.
It also is remarkable how many closet sympathizers on this forum go ape-sh!t over the mention of his name.
My sole knowledge of German comes from Yiddish, and the occasional German tourist who speaks Platt Deutsch, from which it comes. Can’t understand the Prussian dialect for the life of me.
The founders tried to sell everyone on Uganda, Madagascar, and Grand Island, NY as a Jewish homeland. No sale. They ended up going with the Biblical boundaries of Israel, and that attracted Jews from all over the world, in spite of all that the British could do to blockade the coast and the borders. That is the foundation of Modern Day Israel, not the Balfour Declaration or any UN resolution, or any declaration by Ben Gurion. The foundation lies beneath the surface, but everything is built on that foundation, whether the government-du-jour will own up to it or not.
