A Former Russian Troll Explains How to Spread Fake News

Vitaly Bespalov came across a series of online job listings for “content manager.” They looked too good to be true. The pay was 45,000 rubles per month – around $700 at the time – well above the starting salary. “There were no requirements,” he recalls. “No job descriptions.” And no mention of the informal title that came with the position: Internet troll.
Vitaly began clocking in every morning at 55 Savushkina Street in St. Petersburg, the home of Russia’s now-infamous troll factory, otherwise known as the Internet Research Agency.
The daily grind was simple: create fake accounts on social media and use them to post comments online as the bosses instructed. The broader effort of the factory, however, was a state-of-the-art propaganda campaign.
Apart from a few ideological employees who referred to themselves as “Putin’s trolls,” the staff at the factory was mostly indifferent to politics and motivated only by money.
They were paid to meet specific quotas for online comments, blogs and other posts on social media. They were given strict instructions on what issues to write about and how to spin the news of the day.

Ukraine, together with NATO countries, is preparing to de-mine the Black Sea. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported, September 18, FREEDOM informs.
ast year, the headquarters of the mine action tactical group underwent a course on mine action planning, which helped to prepare personnel for coordinated cooperation: the organization of planning, the procedure for analyzing the situation during mine action operations, familiarization with the duties of officials, as well as the organization of work with documents that documents are being developed and reported.
All this was carried out in accordance with NATO standards, which the Ukrainian army strives to master in full. In addition to the theoretical part, an important stage was preceded by the military personnel learning English at a level sufficient for understanding technical documentation and the possibility of free communication with international partners. This year, Ukrainian sailors had the opportunity to demonstrate the acquired knowledge in practice.
Together with the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group, a training operation was planned to demine a conditional crisis area near the north-eastern coast of Scotland. The headquarters directed the anti-mine forces that carried out the task. Currently, Ukrainian sailors are continuing their training abroad and are actively preparing for the time when the threat of the Russian occupation fleet will eventually be neutralized, and Ukrainian waters will be cleared of mines.
We will remind you that a year after the de-occupation of the Kharkiv region, it was not possible to completely clear the territory – it will take another year. The occupiers replaced everything they could get their hands on.
