Another thread talked about the House GOP caucus and graded House GOP members pro vs anti Ukraine.
I did a count of the document provided. I sought to know if a majority of the caucus is pro vs con Ukraine support.
The caucus is 222 seats. 1/2 is 111. There were 92 overtly anti Ukraine spending. Counting weak support or purely neutral seats, or seats that abstained from previous votes, or who have made speeches of no enthusiasm for support, I reached a count of 118.
McCarthy can’t even hold a vote on this. It would pass, with Dem votes, but the Speaker may not push through bills over the majority of his own caucus. This is how Boehner was erased.
So it will have to be bundled with govt shutdown legislation/CR in order to pass, but it was specifically this that he promised never to do, in order to win the Speaker vote.
This is not going to be a typical govt shutdown event upcoming.
