From the study abstract and materials:
ECT = Ethylene glycol, cholesterol and apple tannins CT = Cholesterol and apple tannins
It appears dietary cholesterol with apple tannins, taken at the same time for a period of three days, caused a solute supersaturation of the two to occur, making a lot of crystals which then make kidney stones.
The paper describes high fat/cholesterol foods with high tannin fruits as a combination to avoid for extended periods of time. It also says to drink lots of fluids, which could abate the issue.

Was drinking 4-5 Diet Cokes a day. Urologist said to quit unless I wanted to keep having them. Haven’t had one since. They had to go through my back to get them out. Woke up with two catheters and I was like, WTF??
