It has become commonplace now in many kinds of live venue to keep the audience under video surveillance. It is done to protect the owners if a fight breaks out in the audience, or security is called to eject someone for unacceptable behavior.
The cameras can be aimed by the surveillance operators at any area where there is a disturbance.

Probably not. They aren't really that clever most of the time. It just sounds like a good story afterwards.
What they are really good at is opportunistic exploitation of opponent weak points. Boebert handed them an opportunity on a platter. They used it. It is just what they do.
