My dad told me the story of the, “Once in a Lifetime MFer” when I was about 16. He said, “You can walk around all tough and stuff, getting into fights, but one of these days you’re going to walk into a Once in a Lifetime MFer who is going to clean your clock. That’s the dude who is meaner than you by a country mile and will flat stomp the sh!t outta you and not even blink because he just don’t care. Doesn’t care if he kills you. Doesn’t care if he takes a father away from his kids. Doesn’t care if he gets arrested and has to do time in the joint. He just doesn’t care.” I heeded his wisdom. Now days though, that Once in a Lifetime thing is getting statistically larger. They aren’t once in a lifetime anymore. They’re everywhere and it’s because of what the lady in the article said. They don’t care because there are no repercussions.
Accountability can reduce bad behavior. No accountability allows bad behavior to grow.
