If the “mainstream” media reports on it, rule of thumb, it’s usually a lie. Don’t matter the subject. Even the weather.

I suggest an exercise. Grab the WSJ and look at (read!) ALL the stories (even those re euro interest rates and mergers and etc) and mark down the ones you dont believe, and why. Dealing in detail makes casual opinions less casual.
Proper certainties should come from proper work.
