There was a period of time when Walter Cronkite could have been elected POTUS. Cronkite was a socialist supporter and a strong advocate of world government to the point of the US relinquishing sovereignty. The whole "The most trusted man in the US" crap was a publicity ploy by CBS. They tried to imply a poll of some sort. No such thing. See for yourself here ...
