***Is “The Last Full Measure” the third movie in the Gods & Generals trilogy?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is also the name of the last book in the Gods & Generals trilogy, although I haven’t heard of a Civil War movie by that name yet.
AFAIK the books are:
Gods and Generals (movie of the same name, prequel to Gettysburg)
The Killer Angels (the book that the movie Gettysburg is based on)
The Last Full Measure (still in the planning stage as of 10 years ago - also the name of the Vietnam War movie about A1C Pitsenbarger)
**************************************************
Not what I understood to be referenced, but yes, it is.
The Last Full Measure:
“‘The Last Full Measure’ tells the story of William H. Pitsenbarger. The Vietnam War hero was a US Air Force Pararescueman, known as PJ, responsible for saving the lives of over 60 men. Pitsenbarger is most remembered for the mission he undertook on April 11, 1966.”
The Civil War Trilogy:
Book 1
Gods and Generals
by Jeff Shaara
published 1996
“In a prequel of sorts to his father Michael Shaara’s 1974 epic novel The Killer Angels, Jeff Shaara explores the lives of Generals Lee, Hancock, Jackson and Chamberlain as the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg approaches.”
Book 2
The Killer Angels
by Michael Shaara
published 1974
“In the four most bloody and courageous days of our nation’s history, two armies fought for two dreams. One dreamed of freedom, the other of a way of life.”
Book 3
The Last Full Measure
by Jeff Shaara
“In the Pulitzer prize-winning classic The Killer Angels, Michael Shaara created the finest Civil War novel of our time. In the bestselling Gods and Generals, Shaara’s son, Jeff, brilliantly sustained his father’s vision, telling the epic story of the events culminating in the Battle of Gettysburg. Now, Jeff Shaara brings this legendary father-son trilogy to its stunning conclusion in a novel that brings to life the final two years of the Civil War.”
