Not a bad list actually but I would have included David Bowie, Tom Petty, and Elton John as well, as they were also making relevant rock albums over decades and could also be considered masters. Also "articulate" enough to meet the exacting standards of Jann Wenner.

Can't think of any women rock artists with that kind of longevity, maybe Stevie Nicks but she's a bit of an airhead in interviews. I don't think there are any black rock artists that even come close. Maybe James Brown but he's more soul/R&B than rock. As for Jimi Hendrix, he was only around for a few years before his untimely death. Neither of them did great interviews that I'm aware of.

Jann Wenner canceled by the Left - I take a little schadenfreude in that.

Ok, there’s a couple on that list that I think are pretty serious thinking guys. Dylan. Maybe Bono, maybe not. Townsend, maybe. Garcia might be interesting.

Lennon, no. Commie. Imagine no possessions. Not a deep thinker. I liked Harrison better.

I think that there are a few others that would be pretty significant thinkers in the world of Rock. Bowie, as you mentioned. Roger Waters comes to mind. Don’t overlook Eric Clapton.
