And probably a soccer fan, too. Soccer, the most useless sport ever devised. Kick a ball around until a clock runs out, celebrate a wonderful nil-nil score, then stampede and kill a hundred fans.

Nascar racing isn’t done any justice on TV. Go to a race, preferably a mile and a half track, get a seat 10 rows up between pit exit and turn 1. The roar, the smell, the speed, all are overwhelming. You never appreciate the danger until you realize the cars are on the extreme edge of losing control as they enter the turn. They don’t just turn, they ride on the brink of control and crash at 170 mph.

Now try that on a hot summer day with no air conditioning for 500 miles, bumper to bumper.
