Can someone explain the legal reasoning (justification) behind KC being forced to pay her lawyers? Forced to pay the legal fees she racks up. Especially when his wife Christine Baumgartner initiated the divorce.

Because he’s a man in divorce court. It’s the scr#wing you get for the scr#wing you got.

For years I was in a custody battle and my ex-wife had "temporary" custody (3.5 years in a child's life is a lot, so it was a stretch to call it "temporary").

You could just about make a drinking game out of how many times she asked the judge to raise the child support I was paying her because it was all going to her attorney and he still wanted more. He never raised it, though (for that reason). I eventually got broke enough to have to drop my attorney, learned enough about law to represent myself (pro se) and was better off anyway -- eventually winning custody.

With her still having an attorney for a while, the many, many court actions she stirred up the following years wound up hurting her financially instead of me (ran up her legal bills, I didn't have any). After giving her a few years to simmer down but she still didn't, I started filing my own frivolous court actions to run up her legal bills. I then had a sit down with her and her parents (mainly her mother) and told them that I did it to get their attention to what can happen. They can choose either peace and I'll be happy to work with them and encourage my kids to spend time with them, well more than the usual every other weekend. Or they can keep up the ugly and I'll make up any court action I can think of and call her attorney a lot and
do
anything
I
can
think
of
as
often
as
I
want
to
legally
drain
them
of
everything
they
have.

They eventually stopped their lawfare. I reminded them that Christ's ways encourage us to forgive and move on. And we've gotten along since.
