“Every dollar sent to Ukraine delivers a Return-on-Investment a hundredfold! Our aid in the last 18 months has done more to neutralize the Soviet Russian military threat potential to our country and curb Russian imperialism and expansionism than anything we did in the previous ten years!”
That’s BS. What’s going to stop them from rebuilding everything after the war is over? We’ll be out hundreds of billions and back at square one.
They certainly could build everything back up. Especially if Russia manages to massively reform their society.
I hope they don’t reform. That will keep them weak.
But there is always the possibility that they will. That is why this should be treated as a long term problem, and it is why NATO will be needed, probably, until the Second Coming.

Demand for Perfection Fallacy - also known as the "Perfect Solution Fallacy" or "Nirvana Fallacy."
Just because some pygmy remnant of the Russian Federation - let's call it "Greater Muscovy" for convenience - will probably still be left over after this conflict, that's no reason to dismiss the current course of action, which yields many benefits for U.S. security.
"Greater Muscovy" will be out of billions if not trillions, its economy will be in tatters, and it will be much less of a threat to world peace.
Sure, it comes with a price-tag! TANSTAFL!
