The war in Ukraine has become the most violent example of the east west conflict. At the same time as the Russians are trying to halt the advance of Ukrainian forces in southern Ukraine, on a line stretching from Zaporizhia to Kherson, Kiev has launched a brand new offensive in the countryside of Donbass, particularly in the Donetsk region. This offensive started south of Bakhmut and extended as far as the town of Marinka, southwest of this settlement. In fact, the battle data we have today show that the successes of the Ukrainian offensive reached even the southern lines of Marinka. In other words, today we saw the biggest surprises of the war on the front lines of the Donetsk region. To discover all this, we are going with you to the southern flanks of Bakhmut.

The Ukrainian blitzkrieg, which is active on the southern flanks of Bakhmut, has put the Russians in a complete pincer in strategic areas up to the Donetsk lines. A few days ago, the Russian occupiers in Donetsk woke up to a surprise morning. Unidentified people used balloons to hoist the Ukrainian flag over the city. In the early morning, a large Ukrainian flag was seen by residents of the central part of the city, especially in the Kalininsky district. So unknown people decided to remind both the occupiers and the residents that Donetsk is Ukraine. Russian soldiers reacted tensely to the incident. Judging by the footage from the scene, they tried to knock down the Ukrainian flag with small arms. However, the Russian forces were not very successful. On the same day that Ukrainians raised their national flag in Donetsk, just a few days ago, military activity in this settlement continued. The Ukrainian Armed Forces broke through the Russian defenses in the Opytne area and began to expand the bridgehead for the offensive.

In the Opytne area, soldiers of the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted heavy offensive operations against Russian troops there. Combat experts noted that 2 square kilometers were liberated in this area and today the bridgehead near Opytne has expanded by another quarter. Judging by the map, about half of Opytne is already in the gray zone, meaning that active clashes are taking place in this area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces were advancing confidently towards the Donetsk airport, which is only a few kilometers away. It is worth noting that the defense of Opytne was carried out by the 10th brigade of the Russian Air Force, which was at the forefront of the war in Chechnya. The Wagner PMC militants had previously been trained on the basis of this brigade in Molkino. Founded in the fall of 2014 in Donbas, the notorious Russian group Somalia also operates in the front sector in the Opytne region.
It was this group that participated in the Donetsk airport battles. Nevertheless, the Ukrainians are doing a good job in Opytne.

Today, after all these offensive operations, Ukrainian defenders finally liberated part of the village of Opytne, close to the Donetsk airport. Ukrainian successes in this settlement have galvanized the Russians. On the same day that the Ukrainians made progress in Opytne, Russian forces launched a counter-attack in the Bakhmut area, but with no confirmed success. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russian troops attempted to break through Ukrainian positions near Orikhove-Vasylivka and regain lost positions near Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Kurdyumivka. However, these Russian attempts ended in failure. The general situation in the Kurdiumivka direction, south of Andriivka, was also not favorable for the Russians. Especially in Avdiivka, southwest of Kurdiumivka, there were surprising situations.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Russian forces tried 10 times to dislodge Ukrainian forces from positions near Avdiivka and Marinka, but failed. In Novokalynove, northwest of Avdiivka, in the area called Keramik, the Russians tried to stop the advance of Ukrainian troops. In the settlement of Marinka, the Russians also tried to block the advance of Ukrainian troops. But these attempts were fruitless. Marinka is located southwest of Avdiivka settlement. Here, the Ukrainian offensive to advance in the area and break the Russian defense lines is commendable. The new success of Ukrainian forces in this sector was confirmed by independent sources monitoring the balance of forces on the front line. Meanwhile, clashes continued north of Marinka. Russian troops launched attacks near Krasnohorivka.
