Yeah, when the first plane crashed, we all thought it was a horrible, horrible accident. When the second one hit, we were still numb, but in our guts, we knew something was drastically wrong. Two planes were not an accident. This was by design.
What struck me was that the camera was focused on the burning tower while Matt Lauer was talking and you could see the second plane way off in the distance -- a tiny dot, really.
As the NBC commentators kept talking, the plane kept getting closer and closer. At that point I began to suspect that the second plane was going to hit the building too, because I would have thought that air traffic control would have shut down the NYC airspace after the first collision. The fact that this plane was still flying meant, to me, that it was not following ATC instructions.
That's what I recall, anyway.
