Very good point!
“All safe companies maintain a data base of combinations that links up to the safes serial number.
That way if someone looses or forgets their combination they can recover it. Its also handy if someone dies and did not pass on the combination.
It takes a written, notarized letter establishing ownership along with about $100.00.”
I wondered if that were the case, but is that known to the safe owner? Is there a way to override that access if you wanted no one to know the combination? Either way this was out of line for Liberty to do. Giving any access to the FBI today is tantamount to handing it to a blood thirsty murderer.
I don't know, I found this information out when I bought a house that unbeknownst to me contained a floor safe. Its was a foreclosure so the pervious owners were long gone along with the combo.
I did some research and uncovered the process to get the combo from the manufacture. In the end I decided not to pay the $100 bucks because with my luck I's probably empty.
I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS .......... Before you store any valuable items in your liberty safe , get a “”certified locksmith”” to change the combination . And quit bragging about your safe or safes
This!
We are just a market segment to them. I remember how Scott-E-Vest was marketed towards conservatives. Here is their CEO:
[CEO of Scott-E-Vest} Jordan writes that he replied that SCOTTeVEST “primarily advertises” on Fox News because its viewers are “extremely gullible and easier to sell than other networks.” He then boasts that he gets “to tell them they are f**king idiots while getting rich off them.”
I just try to avoid companies that hate me.
Yeppers, all My stuff went down in the boat sinking ☹️
I know Liberty Safe it trying to hide behind the “they had a warrant” BS, but if the warrant wasn’t issued to Liberty Safe, the company, they were not obligated to comply.
They gave the information voluntarily with only a request from the FBI.
They betrayed their customers confidence, and let the cat out of the bag that people in their company have access to all their digital locks. They deserve to be ruined, and I believe they will be.
All I am saying is that I believe all the major safe manufactures have the same same policy. My floor safe is a Sentry Safe and I outlined their policy for obtaining the lost combo. So singling out Liberty Safe may not make much of a difference.
I’m betting other safe manufactures are scrambling to update their policies/processes right now, as you know people will be digging.
