“Healthy 16 year old’s dying suddenly happens all the time, right?”

Happens more than you think. Sudden cardiac arrest is rare in young people, but it can happen. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 2,000 young, seemingly healthy people under age 25 in the United States die each year of sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest is thought to be a leading cause of death in young athletes, but it also affects young people not involved in organized sports. It can happen during exercise or at rest, or even during sleep. In some cases, young people can die from sudden cardiac arrest days or weeks later from brain damage that happened during the SCA.

It’s a good article.

Do you think it is being reported more?:Were most of the reports before reporting on non-athletic subjects? Or people with known cardiovascular disorder?
