Let's hope the expanding BRICS alliance will amount to nothing. But the fact remains that our unrestrained, inflationary printing of dollars is jeopardizing the dollar's status as the world's reserve currency.

The salvation for the US is that the governments of most* of those BRICS countries are at present even more incompetent than the US government. Astonishing as that may seem to be.

*India under Modi, I would say, is an exception. But, it has a lonnnggg way to go, and serious intrinsic weaknesses mostly unrelated to its government’s competence. Brazil has swung back to wildly socialist, China seems to want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg, Saudi is a one trick pony that couldn’t even beat the Houthis, and Russia is in a hell of a pickle. It mostly goes downhill from there.

Of course, throw in our own recklessness, and I think a global collapse could be triggered that results in NO world reserve currency. That’s an interesting nugget to chew on...
