Yep, music can really be a negative influence on life, and even deadly. When Jimmy’s song was out, everywhere I looked, while out looking for that perfect girl, there was girls with magaritas in their hands.
Before meeting my wife, I dated at least 3 girls whose future worried me. Later, seeing them drunk was a sad thing, but I was grateful to have moved on. One lost her license for a couple years. May have saved her life.
Yeah, I was lucky to gravitate toward tunes that helped keep me off bad roads. Even if some were a bit hypocritical, perhaps.
“That Smell” by Lynyrd Skynyrd is a GREAT tune. As is “Hand of Doom” by Black Sabbath.
Others were great but less known. Russ Ballard’s “Dream On” (totally different song from Aerosmith’s) had me driving home many a night with my fist in the air when it gets to “You let these words ring out!” ;-)
