Homegrown beefsteak tomatoes are still the best. Grocery store tomatoes are garbage
That’s because the vast majority is picked green in Mexico, gassed for the trip to wherever and then gassed again for color!
I bitch about it all the time.
I am from Florida but live in VA now and there is No Reason the markets here couldn’t get the tomatoes from there ... Year round!
For some reason they prefer the 3500 mile trip from Mexico rather than the 700 mile trip from down home!😡
