The governor is smart enough to know if it will hurt him. Election is 2 months away. Pick a fight where he could lose in November?
He’s not that brave I don’t think.

The Turtle isn’t stepping down in the next 8 weeks. If Beshear is re-elected, he WILL defy the law and appoint a Rat.

I wouldn’t put it past the Turtle to wait until he finds out if Beshear does retain office and THEN reigns, in order for Beshear to defy the law. Anything to help the Rats.

Beshear appears to be cruising over Cameron, so he might be emboldened to force the issue. If the Turtle stepped down, Schumer would seat a democrat appointed by Beshear. The federal courts would likely stay out of it due to senate rules and delegation of powers.

There is a distinction, Guv, between “may empower” and “will empower”.

Given the unlikely chance before Nov., he wouldn’t dare. If he wins, he’d jump at it, but in that case I don’t see Mitch turning over the seat and hanging on like Fetterman or Feinstein.

It seems to be a concussion or heart condition, not dementia or Parkinson’s. McConnell may be needed next year in case a SC vacancy occurs.

Nor can I imagine him running in ‘26.
