Flaunt and flout are two words that are often confused. According to Merriam-Webster, “flaunt” means “to display or obtrude oneself to public notice” while “flout” means “to treat with contemptuous disregard” 1. So, if you want to show off something, you should use “flaunt.” If you want to openly ignore or defy a rule or convention, you should use “flout.” I hope that helps!
