I want to believe that. But consider a plumbing company where maybe 20% of the plumbers are just bad. These bad plumbers insult their customers. They do substandard work. And they often make a bad plumbing situation worse.
The word would get around. Such a company would quickly lose trust.
The exact same thing is happening in American policing today. I can understand when a cop makes a poor decision while under stress. But way too many of them casually and deliberately do terrible things. Professionals need to always act as stone-cold professionals, period. We can demand no less.
As you noted, if this situation spins out of control, there is anarchy.
I think it's always been this way. They got away with it in the past. But now everyone has a cell phone and can post to social media, bad cops are exposed immediately.
I get it. We shouldn't be tolerating bad cops. In the meantime, we are seeing the collapse of law and order in some places in this country.
