The media has NO POWER over the people ANYMORE...

While I would like to believe that is true, I simply cannot.

My housemate is a good barometer of where things are with people who do not go to the Internet for news. She is 86 and confined to a wheelchair since a major stroke 6 years ago. We've been friends for 40 years.

She is a lifelong Democrat. She informs me that the Democrats care about the little guy and the poor. The Republicans only care about you if you're a millionaire or a fetus. She believes that anybody, even Biden, is better than Trump because "Trump is demeaning to women." "He lost the election, so he should just get over it and disappear." "He should go to prison."

She gets her news every morning from NPR. If she watches network TV, it's CBS on Sunday mornings. She believes everything they say because "they have people who filter out lies and conspiracy theories."

When I try to red-pill her, she informs me that I spend too much time on the Internet believing conspiracy theories. She believes it's in the best interests of the people for government to censor speech, especially hurtful speech. She is fully vaxed, gets her boosters, and wears a mask in situations where it's not necessary. She believes the government is good and has the best interests of the people in mind.

I doubt she will ever change her opinions.

..........

When the lights go out and she enters the other world she will.

I wish this were true too. I was out the other day with a Dem family member. Fully vaxed and boostered. Still thinks mask work. Told me out of the Blue..she hopes Tucker dies.

I was shocked. I said her name as she should be ashamed for wanting anyone to die. It didn't faze her.

THEN proudly told my husband she watched the debate because she thought it was important to see what people believe. Then another shocker happens....SHE REALLY LOVES NIKKI HALEY!

Oh, I'm not finished, she goes up to cash out her casino ticket and had change left. Looks over at me proudly and says...."I'm giving my change to the RED CROSS..they certainly need it!"

Fortunately she wasn't aware of me going to a wall and leaning against it as I got myself together. She's talking to a stranger bragging about giving to the RED CROSS! and I'm saying over and over...Remember you LOVE your sister more than anything.

Wow. It’s difficult to believe people still think that way. Well, at 86 I guess it would feel pretty risky to change your opinion - imagine finding out you’ve been wrong for that many years! Depressing.
