We got this hard plastic heated mat when 3 feral kittens and their mother showed up at on our screen porch. We plugged it into a thermostat “cube” that turned on automatically when the temp went below a certain temperature. (I think it’s made for chickens.)
We put it into a dog house we got at the farmers supply, and made the door smaller to keep out raccoons and possums.
They were so happy and cozy! In November we decided to bring them all inside. Now only Mama and one of her babies remain. That was 12 years ago. I dreamed about the other two last night and miss them so much.

I forgot to add, that’s the brand mat I bought. And have. I will have three of their sizes when this one shows up today.

I hope it’s as cute and fun as it looks. I got the heat mat the size that will fit on the bottom floor. Then hubby said he can add added insulation if it’s needed.
He’s the one that found this house, I asked him if we wanted to spend this much money on just this one litter and he said it won’t be the last. lol. Then when I told him my idea that we could have named the black and white kitties that came from the Sheriff’s Department andy, barney, Thelma Lou beatrice, and something else, he said we could save those for the next litter.
I guess he is resigned to his fate. I hope it turns out that way, if I can’t find great homes I’ll be keeping some and won’t be able to do more litters.
