On the Alaska whale watching cruise I took recently, the crew fished chunks of broken off ice from the nearby glaciers from the water for this very reason. The ice is going to melt anyway. Do the enviro-wackos think using natural ice is any different than using the ice from the freezer? It’s actually more climate-friendly because you aren’t using electricity to freeze it in the first place!

People are nuts.

When I started going on fishing trips to Canada many years ago, some of the outpost cabins were still using ice houses. They would come in during the winter and cut blocks of ice from the lake and cover the ice with wood chips. I think the ice lasted most of the summer. Today the outposts all use propane stoves, water heaters and refrigerators with solar for lighting..
