Sicilian slices at Manne's Bakery in Revere, and battered fish bites at Jasper White's Summer Shack
Food cravings can be triggered by stress, hormones, and sometimes childhood memories. Reminiscing about lunch lines and lunch ladies might even spark a hankering for those distinctive, lukewarm pizza slices we thought we loved. Thankfully as adults, we can satisfy our nostalgic needs in places other than a school cafeteria.
At Manne’s Bakery in Revere, their chewy, cheesy, Sicilian-style pizza slices are the most popular thing on the menu. A far cry from the frozen, square variety once served up in schools.
Jasper White’s Summer Shack has found a way to make fish sticks fantastic. The secret? Light batter with panko bread crumbs.
Yeah, we never had pizza for lunch. Went to HS through early/mid 70s.
Fish sticks, yes. And I would put them on a couple slices of bread and add tartar sauce.
Sorry, but Old Forge has the best Sicilian pizza....Salerno’s and Arcaro & Genells.
Best Sicilian pizza for me was Anna’s Pizza in Waltham, MA.
Sadly gone now…
In grade school we had sausage balls. Rumor was the cooks made them in their armpits.
I think I just barfed a little.
pork pinwheels...
Fish sticks were my favorite. Dipped in ketchup. 😊
I think there is an Anna’s pizza place in East Hartford/Manchester, CT. That is where I had the best pizza of my life, and I have always lived in the midwest.
Good pizza is one of the wonderful things in life...:)
I have learned to make my own pizza that is better than anything I have eaten anywhere, but..I still need to figure out how to make my own dough. I tried twice and failed both times.
Love pizza...just love it!
Why, thanks! Much appreciated-getting ready to try again!
The secret is the flour. It makes a big difference.
