I would vote for going south and east. That seems to be the easiest and safest path, always traveling away from the hurricane’s track.
Unless you are right on the coast, I would vote to hang tough and ride it out.
If the storm causes damage, looters will show up and I am not prepared to allow that to happen at my house.
