Right, I don’t think the strategy of parasitizing and controlling the producing genotypes can be discounted.
If it didn’t work they would have died out thousands of years ago.
Liberals are like Same sexers. There are new ones born every day. The old ones die out. The newly born replace them.

But I don't think the reason it hasn't died out is related to whether or not it actually works.
It doesn't work.
The reason it hasn't died out is that it seems to be a kind of secular religion. Leftism argues for "fairness" and that gives its adherents a warm and fuzzy feeling (i.e., meaning to their lives). But, whenever they actually get a chance to prove their point by installing a collectivist government, they quickly learn that it won't work (Cuba, USSR, Venezuela, etc., etc., etc.).
Right now the Leftists are looking at China and saying, "See, it works in China."
What they have failed to recognize is that China has survived because it has stolen intellectual property and product designs from the U.S. On top of that, China has adopted a quasi-capitalist form of communism and that has given it a thin veneer of success.
