Agreed.

As to stone-aged people, Will Durant, in his "Story of Civilization," posited that the collectivist demand for sharing (not necessarily trying to please the gods) was evident as soon as men invented fire (and probably before).

In other words, weak, non-productive people wanted more than their earned portion and pushed collectivism (sharing equally) as a means to get it.

Survival of the fittest. When a society values the productivity of the individual and allows the individual to keep the fruits of labor, the society is strong and vibrant. When society compels producers to give a significant portion of the producer’s bounty to the non-producers, non-producers multiply, producer output declines, and the society dies.
