I wrote slot machine software for a couple of years, and one of the games that I was looking at, the odds of hitting the jackpot were 1:20,500,000. (And this wasn’t a wide-area progressive).

So what would the odds be for hitting 8 progressive jackpots on quarter slots over 2 day period that totaled over $2 million???
I just computed the odds, and they’re roughly 1:Someone’s Going to Jail.
They’re just lucky it’s not like the OLD days.
More than likely, this is a situation more akin to the “cellphone hack” that happened a few years ago, than it is for an inside job. Some really smart folks in Russia (I think it was), had bought a bunch of slots, and pulled the programs apart looking for weaknesses. They found one in this particular game. So, they wrote some software that ran on a phone that would vibrate or something to tell you when it was time to press the SPIN button. (The random number generator had a weakness that they were able to find, and they could then predict at what point you should press the button to get a favorable outcome). The only input they needed was the results of a few spins to tell them WHERE in the “field” the RNG was. From there, they could tell you when to spin. This is going to be something like that.
