It appears that Bob Barker outlived all of his family and acquaintances. I can understand not wanting a public funeral where people he didn't know in the entertainment industry would use the occasion to lament his passing and audition themselves.
I guess that's the curse of outliving your contemporaries.
It reminds me of Normon Lloyd's passing. I remember reading stories of how Nolan was the hit at all the parties, regaling people with stories of his time with Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, and other contemporaries. But when he finally passed at 106, there wasn't anyone close left to attend.
