Always liked that song. We had it on a 45 when I was a kid.

I remember seeing it a long time ago. The character played by Charlotte Rampling is extremely unpleasant.

But at least the movie explains the song, which was very popular when I was in middle school.

Another song I could live with never hearing ever again.

My childhood family saw two Drive-In movies with James Mason.
Both were in Black & White.
One was Georgy Girl, which we all enjoyed.
The other was seen a few years earlier, it was called Lolita.
My parents thought it was “too grown up” for the four of us, so we left and got some candied apples instead.

I think the Seekers were one of the most under rated groups of their time. There's Youtube videos of them that explain how they arrived in Europe from Australia and their subsequent rise to fame.

And here is a Youtube video of the group performing what I feel is the most poignant and beautiful song they ever recorded.

And what is most amazing is that it was recorded in 2014, over 50 years after they made their debut in the music world and the wonderful Judith Durham never lost her beautiful voice. This song actually brings tears to my eyes.........

The Seekers - I Am Australian: Special Farewell Performance

RIP Judith, you were golden.......
